Variety posted an interview with Star Trek Deep Space Nine actor Colm Meaney, in which he talks about his new movie titled Kings, first film submitted by Ireland for consideration in the Academy Awards' foreign-language film category, and also talks briefly about Star Trek. Here are few excerpts.
Meaney found his theater work to be of great help in the role of Miles O'Brien on TNG and DS9.
"When you looked at the 'Star Trek' dialogue, you needed actors with a strong theater background who could play Shakespeare, as it's heightened drama," Meaney says. "Suspension of disbelief is required."
He won't be having any involvement with the new Star Trek movie, however.
"Seven years in space was sufficient," he laughs.
