Greg Grunberg Says Star Trek Movie Will Have Great Cameos

Features

By GustavoLeao / 14:27, 26 January 2008 / Feature Films

Heroes actor and J.J. Abrams pal Greg Grunberg talked a bit about the upcoming Star Trek movie at the FX Show in Orlando today. Yesterday, Abrams revealed in the TrekMovie.com chat that Grunberg is not in the Trek movie because he is filming another movie.

"You will see some of the actors that J.J. likes to work with in the movie," Grunberg said when asked about Star Trek "I'm not talking about me in particular, but you will see some great cameos. You'll never know who the people are, but they are all fans of the [Star Trek] shows, fans of the movies, and called up J.J. asking to be in the movie. They were monster celebrities from all over, and he's put them all in disguises and put them into his movie."

More from Grunberg can be found at the original report at SyFy Portal.

Shatner turned down a part in this movie. | Report this post to moderator

You know why Shatner isn't in this movie as a cameo? BECAUSE HE TURNED THEM DOWN. He said Kirk or nothing.

KIRK IS DEAD. And so would this movie be if he is in it.

If you want Kirk in this movie, then you want Star Trek to die. That's a FACT.

SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!! Oh My God, people WANT to do cameos in this movie. Everwhere else in the world, this would be a testament to not only JJ Abrams as a director and writer, that people would want to show up for it, but to Star Trek as a whole that people would want to show up in it for five seconds, just because they love it show much....

Of course here, it's another reason for whiners to get on this board and bitch and moan because... because... because... IT'S THE WRONG GOD DAMN CAMEO! OH MY GOD, IT'S NOT SHATNER!

If Shatner was in this movie, the same people would be whining about the violation of cannon that the guy who died showed up in the movie.

I'm looking forward to seeing who shows up in it. It should be interesting. But then, I'm a Star Trek fan. I'm personally hoping we see Matthew Shepherd and Evangeline Lilly in it at some point. I'd like to see her as an Orion Slave Chick. That'd be awesome. Or something completely different... maybe Terry O'Quinn in heavy Klingon Makeup or Victor Garber as a Starfleet Professor.

I don't really care if Jennifer Garner is in this film. I do care if William Shatner is in the movie.

Since there's been no word of Majel Barrett-Roddenberry appearing in the film (and I'm sure there would have been by now), we must assume another actress will be doing the voice of the Enterprise computer. My money is on Jennifer Garner.

I also won't be surprised to see Terry O'Quinn playing some Starfleet admiral type -- or even Dr. Boyce! -- even though he already appeared on TNG.

And that big guy from Lost is about the right size to play a Horta, don't ya think? ;-)

to see how long until this story leads to a certain poster adding about a billion or so more cries of J.J. Abrams and company LYING about getting Shatner into the movie.

Obviously we'll need Jennifer Garner and Tom Cruise playing Nero's parents! And don't forget Keri Russell as "Tellarite # 3".
