Review by Jeff Ayers
With Valentine's Day a month away, all the male Trekkers are starting to plan how to please their ladies on that special day and beyond. Well, your prayers have been answered with the publication of Captain Kirk's Guide to Women.
All of the major techniques used by our favorite swinging captain are spelled out in graphic detail. Figuratively and literally tongue in cheek, the author John "Bones" Rodriguez examines Kirk's conquests and his success in landing even the ugly chicks. (Yes, Sylvia from Catspaw, I'm talking to you). Each woman he encountered in his three years of exploration (if you know what I mean) is examined. Each profile includes subject, age, species, occupation, and the lesson learned from Kirk's touching tribute to her lips and body. Special notes, telltale quotes, and a log providing a summary of their encounter fill out each entry. Surprisingly, the women from the Star Trek movies are ignored. I'm guessing the discussion of spreading your seed for successful breeding might put a damper on the discussion of pleasing the fairer sex.
This book has groan-inducing puns, full color photos, and it never takes itself seriously. The author knows his Trek well and utilizes some fun jokes by quoting other episodes. The steep price of $14.00 will steer some folks away, so prepare accordingly. If you are successful in mastering these techniques, you just might land that dreamy 60's woman. Or, you might lose her to Captain Picard. In any case, this book will help you steer through the stiff competition.
