At Wired...

Trek icons such as Nichelle Nichols, Scott Bakula and Gary Graham took center stage in front of news cameras to express the Screen Actors Guild's support for the WGA labor action over DVD royalties and online download fees.

"I'm here for the writers," Nichols said. "It's important to me to be involved as these new technologies develop."

The best picket signs on the line included the modified Wrath of Khan quote, "Good words are where ideas begin;" and "Beam Me Up Some Justice." Most passersby supported the effort with a consistent stream of car horn honks. But, anti-trekker and anti-writer obscenities occasionally boomed across Melrose from angry commuters.

Scott Bakula appeared on the picket line, and he'll appear in William Shatner's Boston Legal, according to TV Guide...

Murphy Brown fans, prepare to piddle yourselves silly. Boston Legal is reuniting Candice Bergen with her onetime MB squeeze, Scott Bakula.

Sources confirm that Legal creator David E. Kelley has tapped Bakula to guest-star in an upcoming episode as an old beau of Bergen's Shirley Schmidt who she meets up with at a bar.

During your Slusho break from the picket line, pick up the February 2008 issue of SCI FI magazine, which went on sale in the US yesterday. It sports Zachary Quinto on the cover, and the table of contents splashes Star Trek and Cloverfield.

Last month, editor Scott Edelman wrote this in his LiveJournal: I just received advance copies of the February 2008 issue of SCI FI magazine, which won't be officially on sale until December 10. Zachary Quinto's face isn't on the cover due to a Heroes article — he's there because we decided to make our cover feature this time around a sneak peek at the upcoming Star Trek film. It's by far the longest lead sneak peek we've ever done, since the film is still more than a year away.

Fascinating.
