IESB confirmed that actors Chris Hemsworth (Home and Away) and Jennifer Morrison (House) have been cast in J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Trek prequel movie.
24-year-old Hemsworth will be playing young James T. Kirk's father, George Samuel Kirk Sr. According to the site, when he read for the part, the filmmakers, including Abrams, were so blown away by him that he was offered the role on the spot.
In the Star Trek novels written by Diane Carey (which are not canon, of course), Commander George Samuel Kirk was the best friend of Enterprise Captain Robert April, and was his first officer in the starship's first mission.
The spy pictures from the set (story) revealed a young actress that looked a lot like Jennifer Morrison (see photo). Today IESB received confirmation from her management company that she has indeed been cast, however, they would not offer up which character she will be playing.
According to IESB, she may be playing the role of Carol Marcus, the mother of Kirk's son, David Marcus and played by late actress Bibi Besch in Star Trek II The site were able to get confirmation that Carol Marcus appears in the script. And according to the site, If you look closely at the pictures of Morrison you'll notice she's the only one in a non-Starfleet attire, she is wearing a skirt and slip on shoes while all other Starfleet females have their hair pinned up she does not.
