"I just wish Abrams would make up a new cast instead of rehashing TOS thinking that it will save Trek."
I hope they don't really recast the TOS crew. I'm even one of the guys that wouldn't mind seeing a re-imagined NCC-1701 with a post NX-01 and pre 1701-D bridge set. But if the TOS crew has to be in the movie, have them be some kind of CGI cameo, tying in a different crew/ship with the existing 'verse.
Ew. This guy creeps me out. I don't know if brain eating would fit in with the Spock mythos. I think I would keep expecting him to start pointing at people's heads and TKing their skulls off. yikes.
But seriously, that would be interesting to see a test with him as Spock. Maybe he could play a mad vulcan. He's got the cold and calculating killer part down pat.

Mulder: Imagine if you could come back and take out five people who’d caused you to suffer. Who would they be?
Scully: I only get five?
It just seems every nobody out there "thinks" they can just do TOS characters and that the fans are just going to lap it up like dogs. I don't think so.
I just wish Abrams would make up a new cast instead of rehashing TOS thinking that it will save Trek.
I am disturbed by any actor who approaches the role of Spock with the idea that he is driven purely by logic, just like all Vulcans.
What Mr. Quinto, and I'm afraid most other people who aspire to the role forget is that the beauty and tragedy of the character of Spock is that his human half, in his youth, was something to be ashamed of. Shame is a concept that is all but absent today, so it's no wonder they don't understand it. It is his shame at being half human, with all of the internal struggles that implies, that made the character so compelling to people who saw themselves in the character. The role of Spock is not a prize to be won; The role of Spock is a responsibility. The reason Spock's popularity skyrocketed in ways NBC could never have dared dreamed of at the time, was best described by Kirk in TWOK: His soul was the most human. More than any other character on the show, he held up the mirror to the audience. Any actor with "logic" on the brain is missing the point.
There are three alien stereotypes of Roddenberry's day that he adhered when he created Spock.
Aliens are 1. stronger than us, 2. smarter than as and 3. they can read our minds.
Any old actor could have pulled off #'s 2 and 3 just due to the writing. But the stronger part. No one would have believed that unless Leonard Nimoy was both tall and had that deep, authoritative voice. It went a long way to believing what today we call "techno babble" coming from less imposing actors.
Any actor playing Spock, even in a reboot, needs to have a deep authoritative voice to make him believable. I'm not sure if Quinto fills that bill, but he is a great actor.

Nope, Kirby Salesman.
lol, In all seriousness, I don't care who plays them, just as long as they do the characters justice.

Only Nixon could go to China
This guy actually LOOKS like Nimoy...look at Nimoy in THE CAGE or earlier and this guy looks just like him...plus, this would be inspired casting, where as Adrien Brody would be safe and boring...
So yes..Mr. Quinto...you got my vote!!!
Chaotic
Sure as hell beats having Adrien Brody play Spock!
While I don't see that this guy looks a lot like Nimoy, I am happy that he sounds eager to take a bite at the role. And he seems to be coming at it from the right perspective (insofar as you can tell from a minute long interview snippet).
