Feb 08 | While his "Lost" co-stars prepare to pack up and leave Hawaii, Daniel Dae Kim can plan to remain there for at least a few more months. Mr. Kim, who plays the time-traveling tough guy Jin on "Lost," has been the first actor cast in a coming remake of the crime drama "Hawaii Five-O," The Hollywood Reporter said. He has been cast as Chin Ho Kelly, a detective played by Kam Fong in the original series, which began in 1968. The "Hawaii Five-O" revival is being developed by the screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci ("Star Trek," "Fringe") and Peter Lenkov, an executive producer of "CSI: NY."
Feb 03 | William Shatner has paid tribute to his former Boston Legal co-star Justin Mentell, who died in a freak car accident on Monday. The 27 year old was thrown from his Jeep after swerving off the road near Madison, Wisconsin and died at the scene of the tragic crash. The Star Trek legend was saddened to hear of Mentell's passing - as he's convinced the actor was destined for a glittering career. In a post on his Twitter.com page, Shatner writes, "I'm deeply saddened to hear about Justin Mentell. There's no telling how far up the ladder he may have climbed. My sympathies to his family."
Feb 01 | Journalist Edward Gross posted an article at SciFiTVZone.com called "The Making of the Star Trek Pilots, Part 3: "Assignment Earth"" which takes a retrospective look at the making of the Gene Roddenberry unsold TV pilot "Assignment Earth" filmed at Desilu Studios as a second season Star Trek episode. The article feature rare interviews - including authors involved with the character of Gary Seven in comics and in novels.

Canada's SPACE: The Imagination Station reprises the Annual SPACEY Awards for a fourth year of giving homage to some of the best in sci-fi and fantasy entertainment.
"In a sea of television awards shows, the SPACEYS avoids the podiums and boring award dinners, and takes the show around the globe to find the winners wherever they happen to be," explains Paul Gratton, CHUM's vice-president of entertainment specialty channels.
William Shatner accepted a "Lifetime Achievement" gong during the 1st annual awards. Jolene Blalock has earned three SPACEYS: in 2003 as "Favourite TV Hottie," in 2004 as "Fave TV Character, Female" and again in 2005 as "Favourite Female TV Character." Star Trek: Enterprise beamed up "Favourite TV Series," last year, with Scott Bakula accepting the award on behalf of the cast and crew (story with video).
This year, two Trek-alumni productions are up for SPACEYS: Ronald D. Moore's Battlestar Galactica, and The 4400 from Ira Steven Behr and René Echevarria.
Genre fans may vote in seven Viewers Choice categories: Favourite Movie, Favourite TV Show, Favourite TV Ensemble Cast, Favourite New TV Character, Favourite Video Game, Favourite Action Sequence, and Favourite FX.
The nominees for Favourite TV Show are Battlestar Gallactica, Doctor Who, Lost, Stargate SG-1, and Supernatural.
Favourite TV Ensemble Cast nominees: Battlestar Galactica, The 4400, Lost, Smallville, and Stargate SG-1.
Favourite New TV Character nominees: Ana-Lucia Cortez (Lost), Professor Milton Fine/Brainiac (Smallville), Lt.-Col. Mitchell (Stargate SG-1), Rose Tyler (Dr. Who), and Vala Mal Doran (Stargate SG-1).
Favourite Movie nominees: Batman Begins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chronicles of Narnia, Corpse Bride, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, King Kong, Howl's Moving Castle, Land of the Dead, Serenity, Sin City, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, and Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
Favourite Action Sequence nominees: Batman Begins (Batmobile chase), The Island (Freeway chase), King Kong (T-Rex vs King Kong), Star Wars Ep III: Revenge of the Sith (Anakin/Kenobi saber fight), and War of the Worlds (Initial attack).
Favourite FX nominees: Chronicles of Narnia, King Kong, Sin City, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, and War of the Worlds.
Favourite Video Game nominees: Battlefield 2 (EA), Call of Duty 2 (Activision), God of War (Sony), King Kong (Ubisoft), and Resident Evil 4 (CapCom).
The SPACEY Viewers Choice site remains open until May 8th to accept your votes.
SPACEY staffers will award SPACE Choice trophies for Best Non-Human Performer, Best Movie Villain, Best Movie Hero, Best Horror Movie, Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie, Best Comic Adaptation Movie, and Best Animated Movie. Lifetime Achievement and Special award winners will be announced at a later date.
The 2006 SPACEY Awards broadcast premieres on the SPACE channel, Saturday, May 27 at 9:30pm ET, with encore presentations on Saturday, May 27 at 12:30am; Sunday, May 28 at 3:30pm; and Tuesday, May 30 at 10pm.
