Columbia NX-02 in Action in "Divergence" - First Details (SPOILERS)

Features

By GustavoLeao / 07:25, 18 December 2004 / Enterprise

TrekWeb has received the first plot details from the upcoming ENTERPRISE episode "Divergence", the second episode in a two-part Klingon arc explaining how the Klingon foreheads changed from TOS to TMP. The episode is written by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens.

Doctor Phlox will prepare some kind of anti-virus vaccine - peharps in a effort to cure the plague that is attacking the Klingons, as revealed in the previous episode in the arc, "Affliction". Phlox isn't quite sure it's going to work and just as he explains that his procedure will involve human hosts, the ship he is on comes under attack.

Joining the battle against several ships is the new starship Columbia NX-02, just out of Spacedock, under the command of Captain Erika Hernandez, again played by Ada Maris. As one of the enemy ships is losing power and its port nacelle is vulnerable, Captain Hernandez takes command of her bridge and gives the order to fire at will. According to the Reeves-Stevenes, the episode features "a multiple-starship action sequence that's never been seen before".

Again, keep in mind that this is early information and it shouldn't be taken as fact until confirmed by official channels.

I'm so tired of all the grousers on this website posting pithy comments! You complain if there's any deviation from established 'cannon' and now you complain that one of the biggest discrepancies in the ST universe will now be properly explained - in what looks to be an exciting storyline. Geez, the producers just can't win around here...

I was just thinking how fortunate it is ENT has the opportunity to do this, just as its fx budget has been cut. Now they can have human-looking Klingons, too!

Why did they ask? | Report this post to moderator

Y'know, it occurs to me: if the NX-01 and 02 and Earth Starfleet and whoever else are all involved in dealing with the issue, why did O'Brian, Odo and Bashir have to ask Worf for an explanation of why the Klingons look different in "Trials and Tribblations"?

Did they not make a similar type of statement for Nemesis? Besides, the effects seen on DS9 were of excellent TV quality, so I cannont see how they could make something new. Guess a person would have to watch. But we've heard these types of statements before.

I definately want more Klingons, but I don't want this. 2 episodes to explain an increase in budget and andvancements in cosmetics is pretty lame. In a sense I feel like it betrays the humor of Trials and Tribblations which is one of my personal favorite Trek episodes. Any fan who watches Ent now without ever having seen T&T will not enjoy that point as a joke, but will instead take it seriously. Now they have to make it known that no Humans have seen these flat heads, because I refuse to beleive that none of the Ds9 characters would know anything about history.
