The Stars Speak:
- [[9/2]] Ethan Phillips:
Jeri [Ryan] is a real bombshell. That suit of hers is very tight.
If it were any tighter she'd be dead. Her outfit looks like it's
stretched tarmac.
- [[9/10]] Kate Mulgrew:
It will take some time before Janeway and Chakotay can
re-establish the kind of intimacy and trust they had.
- [[9/10]] Kate Mulgrew:
I played that scene in the hive as if I were surrounded by a
million serial killers.
- [[9/17]] Jeri Ryan:
I heard you had to be given oxygen while shooting. Is this
true? Are you ok?
I have to clear something up about this.
I've read some interviews that I've given and the way this story
has been quoted frequently makes it sound like the producers were
standing there with whips saying "Now you get in that costume and
you suffer!" Which of course is not the case.
Yes, I was given oxygen. And yes I'm fine. Thanks for asking!
But obviously as soon as they realized there was a problem, they
immediately asked what they could do to fix it. This has nothing
to do with the silver costume... it was purely the Borg costume.
The Producer's Pen:
- [[8/27]] Jeri Taylor:
She is, to state the obvious, stunningly beautiful. However--and
this is what you don't usually get when you have someone who is
that attractive--she is also a remarkable actress, and she has
grown into the part.
- [[8/27]] Jeri Taylor:
She had no clue what a Borg was, asked about a billion questions
and went off and looked at some of the episodes, still feeling very
insecure and not sure what she was able to carry off the role. We
were more sure than she was; she has an amazing strength. She
looks very delicate and ethereal. But she stood face-to-face with
Janeway, Tuvok, and Chakotay and the intensity that she projected
was just astonishing. We were simply blown over.
- [[8/27]] Jeri Taylor:
Jeri [Ryan] will simply bring a breath of fresh air and be a unique
kind of character that we can explore--the Borg who has been Borg
since she has been a child. She was taken by the Borg as a very
young child, grew up, came of age as a Borg, has lost all memory
and sense of Humanity, and is now suddenly cut off from the
collective. She goes through an awful period of withdrawl, doesn't
want to be on Voyager, doesn't want to be Human. She wants to go
back to the Borg and for that to be the only thing that she's ever
known. She has an incredible journey ahead of her.
- [[8/27]] Rick Berman:
"Scorpion, Part II" will feature some of the biggest surprises that
have ever been seen on a season opener for a long time.
- [[8/27]] Brannon Braga:
I'm planning on saying that one of the things that made the Borg
more vulnerable was the fact that the Queen was killed, and we'll
learn a little bit about that in part II.
The ship remains on Red Alert after Janeway, in exchange for safe passage
through space, reaches an agreement with the Borg Collective to help them fight
Species 8472, a race more malevolent than their own, on the season premiere of
"Star Trek: Voyager" airing Wednesday, September 3 (9:00-10:00 p.m.,ET/PT) on
UPN. Actress Jeri Ryan is introduced as a regular cast member, Seven of
Nine.
Although Chakotay strongly objects to the unpredictable collaboration,
Janeway and Tuvok transport, with great caution, to the Borg Cube. When a drone
attempts to temporarily assimilate Janeway by connecting a neuro-transreceiver
to her, the alarmed Captain convinces them to instead choose a representative to
communicate verbally with her. Soon, a vaguely human Borg emerges to speak for
the Collective; designated Seven of Nine, she helps them prepare to engage the
enemy--but when she boards Voyager, the entire crew is on edge. Meanwhile, the
Doctor determines that the mysterious alien species is accessing Kes' memory.
