When you do a story, do you create/round out a character with
certain guest stars in mind? For instance, even though he was Kurn
first, I can't imagine, given his excellent portrayal, anybody else but
Tony Todd as adult Jake.
But interestingly, the part wasn't written for him. He won out
over a number of other actors in open auditions.
