Guest Stars:
Spellings: "Ketracel-white"
Notes:
- Scott
MacDonald also played Tosk in "Captive
Pursuit".
- Stephen
Davies also played the Bolian Tactical Officer in "Emissary".
- Marshall
Teague has also guest-starred in "Babylon 5" twice: as Nelson Drake
in "Infection"
and as a Narn in "All
Alone in the Night".
- Rogana Tosh is associated with a Markalian smuggling operation.
- According to Kira, Quark has more in common with a Rakonian swamp rat than
with Starfleet.
- Kira ordered a Tarkalian Tea, not too sweet.
- Worf does not seem to like his new position, and finds himself being
pulled back to security jobs.
- "Medical Officer's Log, Stardate 49066.5. Chief O'Brien and I
have concluded our bio-survey of Merrick III in the Gamma Quadrant.
We're on course back to the wormhole and should arrive at the
station two days ahead of schedule." -- Dr. Julian Bashir
- O'Brien has set up a little workshop in his bedroom, about which Keiko
gets very annoyed whenever she visits (only a few days at a time).
Dr. Bashir says that by putting the workshop in the bedroom, he is
showing that he actually wants to spend more time with Keiko.
- Chief O'Brien is a Chief Petty Officer, what Starfleet calls a
"non-comm".
- Worf's job as Strategic Operations Officer is to coordinate all
Starfleet activity in the Bajoran sector.
- Ketracel-white is an isogenic enzyme, discovered in "The
Abandoned", which the Jem'Hadar require to survive.
- The Klingons have attacked many outposts along the Romulan border.
Gowron simply declared victory with the Cardassian conflict in "The Way of the Warrior" and returned . If
he had lost, he would have been assassinated by now.
- A type-IV Tilonian scanner is used in determining the purity of
Tilonian crystals, which are illegal anywhere but the Tilonian
world.
- Plants on planets orbiting red giants would not have much chlorophyll.
- O'Brien received a bruised trachea, but had no permanent damage, from
the grip of one of the Jem'Hadar.
- Goran'Agar has just enough Ketracel-white in his body to sustain him,
though he has no supply tube to give him more. It is possible that
he might be a founder in disguise, but there is no certain information
either way.
- Worf is having a hard time staying out of security. After 7 years on
the Enterprise, it's no wonder.
- Odo was a bag of Latinum.
- Sisko is working with his Saltah'na clock from "Dramatis Personae".
- Bashir and O'Brien used the Rubicon.
- This was Julian and Miles' weekly Darts day. They probably won't play
for a while.
The Stars Speak:
- From a CompuServe conference:
Sue E. Boggs asks: "Sid... In H.O. would you have liked to have
had Bashir react more when O'Brien destroyed his research?"
Alexander Siddig: "I think the fact that the chief and the Dr. are
such close friends became the deciding issue as regards any further
disciplinary action against O'Brien."

- In the Gamma Quadrant, Bashir and O'Brien respond to what
they believe is a ship in trouble on a remote planet. After
crash-landing on the surface, they become prisoners of Jem'Hadar
soldiers. When they learn Bashir is a doctor, the leader, Goran'Agar,
explains that he has been mysteriously cured of his addiction
to Ketracel-white, the substance the Founders genetically-engineered
the Jem'Hadar to require for survival. Goran'Agar wants Bashir to find
the cure so that his soldiers can escape the Dominion's tyranny -- a
task he must complete before their drug supply runs out -- only five
days. Bashir must decide if he is going to help the Jem'Hadar, or allow
them to die, killing himself and O'Brien in the process.
