Notes:
- The Shakaar resistance was first mentioned in the episode "Past Prologue".
- Kira is using a "Duranja", or "Lamp for the Dead", in a ceremony
for Bareil's death (cf. "Life Support").
It is not often used as long as three months, but for a dearly
loved one, it may be lit even longer. Prayers are chanted while
seated next to the burning flame.
- O'Brien, Sisko, Dax, Bashir, and a Lt. Syvar all play darts in this
episode. O'Brien experiences being in "The Zone", a state where you
feel you cannot lose.
- Kalem Apren was the First Minister, the governmental leader of Bajor.
The position of First Minister is an elected one with a six-year term.
- Some of the crops which could grow in Rakantha Province include
Botoka and Salem Grass. These could be exported as a part of the
Rakantha Project, a place set aside to "show the galaxy" that the
Bajorans are not just poor refugees, but hard workers that can
trade with the other major worlds of the quadrant.
- The Bajoran application to join the Federation is still in a state of
flux, and is still a long way from completion. (Perhaps it will reach
a close in the seventh season.)
- The first off-world raid against the Cardassians during the occupation
was the Pullock 5 raid, which Lenaris Holem lead.

- When the First Minister of the Bajoran Provisional Government dies,
Kai Winn is appointed to his duties and about to be formally
elected. Winn asks Kira to speak with farmers from her
province who are still holding soil reclamators that Winn needs for
Bajor's recovery efforts in Rakantha Province. Their leader,
Shakaar, also led Kira's resistance cell during the Cardassian
occupation. When the powerful Winn attempts to arrest Shakaar,
Kira defends him, and becomes a fugitive. This time, however, the
enemies are fellow Bajorans.
