The Stars Speak:
  • Armin Shimerman:
The Nagus was played by Wallace Shawn. He got screen credits, okay. Wallace Shawn, wonderful actor, played the Nagus, and he was totally intimidated and besieged by the makeup on the first day. Came in the first day, and I said, "Wallace, nice to meet you," and all he could say was, "I've been in..." I can't do it now. [Perfect imitation of the Nagus voice.] "I've been in makeup from 9 to 5! Nine to 5! I've been in makeup from 9 to 5!" [Laughter] "Nine to 5!" He also said to René and I later in the week... I said "Uh, Wallace, are you having a good time?" He said, [Again the Nagus voice] "Yes, and you know, I'm doing a character voice. I've never done a character voice." [Laughter] I said, "Ahem, excuse me, I have to go outside." [Laughter] I asked Wallace at the end of the shoot whether he would like to come back and he said he would. And since the producers have mentioned "The Nagus" is one of their very favorite episodes, it's very possible the Nagus will come back. I hope so.
